Mackie’s original aim in designing a powered speaker was to deliver studio quality sound in a live setting. They achieved this goal with their legendary SRM450, which sold an entire generation of perfomers on the idea of an amp built into a speaker. The natural next step was to take what they learned and make a better powered speaker.
